David Stark
Grand Valley State University
David Stark is a historian of colonial Latin America. He has taught at Grand Valley State University since 1999 and teaches courses in the History Department, Honors College, and the Global Studies and Social Impact program. His initial research focused on enslaved populations of the Spanish Caribbean, in particular the demography and family life of slaves in eighteenth-century Puerto Rico. This led to the publication of Slave Families and the Hato Economy in Puerto Rico (University Press of Florida, 2015). He is currently studying the clergy and the Church seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Puerto Rico.
